Q: Are there any fees to join the association or get a membership to use the forum?
A: No and there never will be. The association and forum is free for all past and present tenants.
Q: Can you provide legal advice?
A: No, we cannot as we are not lawyers. However we can help direct you to resources that can provide you with good legal advice. We can also assist you in understanding how to fill out paperwork. There may also be members who have gone through something similar to your situation who might have helpful insight.
Q: How do I join and get forum access?
A: You just need to attend one of our public meetings or be referred by an existing member. We post regular updates about our public meeting times and locations on the Public section of the forum.
Q: Why is the forum private?
A: We want people to feel comfortable speaking up, first and foremost. We also want to keep some discussions limited to the group of tenants so we can work out issues without exposure to the public. We've all seen things get out of hand on social media on the basis of very thin (or even no facts) and know it leads nowhere good. Having a place we can talk things through without worrying about something becoming a public issue prematurely or without full merit seems reasonable. Many issues between landlords and tenants are resolved in private talks between parties and if we can help facilitate that we think that's the responsible thing to do.
Q: What do you do with the personal information you collect on the site?
A: Nothing except run the site with it. The only information we have about you is what you provide to us at registration and we do not sell or give that to anyone. Nor do we sell or otherwise provide website tracking data to any third parties. The forum will store activity logs which we would not share with anyone unless compelled by a warrant or court order.
We are not currently the subject of any National Security Letters, have not received any gag orders and have not received any warrants from any law enforcement organization.
